Hilton Head Island doesn’t have the pure white sand or the clearest water, but it’s a nice place regardless. My parents immediately lost their sense of direction when reaching the island in July 1998. The island doesn’t use street signs. Apparently street signs degrade the natural beauty of the resort developments. Instead, the locals use landmarks to give directions. Most days were spent on the beach, with the exception of a day trip to Savannah’s historical district and a tour of a swamp preserve. Savannah is oppressively humid. I doubt I could live there.
